Auburn, WALocal News

Daud Sakerie Mohamud, a 30-year-old man from Auburn, has been charged with multiple felonies, including hit-and-run resulting in death, following a devastating incident on I-5 on March 7, 2025. The crash, which occurred when Mohamud's SUV fell from an overpass, killed his front-seat passenger Abdiqadir Ahmed and injured others, including a backseat passenger who suffered serious injuries. Mohamud fled the scene but was later found by a Washington State Patrol sergeant attempting to discard evidence. His extensive traffic infraction history, which includes 35 infractions and several DUI-related offenses, prompted prosecutors to request higher bail and stricter conditions. The judge set his bail at $100,000, with recommendations for electronic home detention and driving restrictions.

Prosecutors expressed significant concern for community safety, labeling Mohamud as an "incredibly dangerous driver. " The case highlights ongoing issues of reckless driving and public safety in the region. Mohamud is scheduled for his next court appearance later this month.
