Auburn Police release more details on March 13 carjacking pursuit

Auburn Police detailed a significant carjacking incident that occurred on March 13, 2024, resulting in the arrest of two suspects. Around 9:30 p. m. , officers were alerted to the theft of a black 2021 Toyota Highlander from the Multicare Auburn Medical Center. Utilizing both the victim's stolen phone and the vehicle's GPS, Officer Bentz initiated a search that led to the vehicle's location at a Metro Park and Ride.

When Officer Nguyen spotted the stolen vehicle, a pursuit ensued, during which the suspects struck a patrol car before fleeing into a nearby parking lot. After abandoning the vehicle, the suspects attempted to escape on foot, but two were quickly apprehended by the police. A handgun was discovered inside the abandoned vehicle, highlighting the incident's seriousness. Both arrestees, aged 17 and 23, were processed and booked into jail, while a third suspect remains at large. The police emphasized their commitment to public safety and the effective response by the officers involved.
