Tragically, the male driver was pronounced dead at the scene, while the officer involved was reported to be unharmed.

The Valley Independent Investigation Team (VIIT) has been notified and is currently leading the investigation into the incident, with Federal Way taking on the role of lead agency. Notably, the Office of Independent Investigations (OII) has chosen not to respond to the situation.
