Auburn Valley Humane Society terminates CEO Phil Morgan after review

The Auburn Valley Humane Society (AVHS) has dismissed CEO Phil Morgan following an investigation into concerns raised by employees and the public. The Board of Directors announced the termination on Friday, confirming Morgan's departure from the organization. To facilitate a smooth transition, AVHS has appointed Jeff Boyd, the executive director of Yakima Humane Society, as executive consultant. Boyd will collaborate with Katrina Megrath, who serves as CEO of Operations and Animal Care, a position she has held since spring 2025. Boyd aims to create a sustainable plan that boosts team morale and builds community trust.

He expressed a personal connection to AVHS’s mission, emphasizing the importance of their work in the community. Board Chairperson Alexis Singletary conveyed the board's appreciation for Boyd's commitment and expressed enthusiasm for the organization’s future. This leadership change reflects a significant pivot for AVHS, aiming to enhance its operational effectiveness and community engagement.
