Kent Police arrest suspect after high-speed chase and pipe bomb seizure

Auburn, WALocal News

A 26-year-old Auburn man was arrested early Tuesday, September 2, 2025, after leading police on a high-speed chase through Kent and SeaTac. The pursuit began when Patrol Officer Petersen observed a blue Volkswagen Jetta without a license plate and requested backup due to the presence of multiple occupants and a potential firearm. The suspect fled but eventually struck spike strips, leading to a PIT maneuver that brought the vehicle to a stop. Officers recovered a realistic BB gun from the car, and the suspect was charged with felony eluding and a $5,100 warrant for reckless endangerment. Following the arrest, police obtained a search warrant and discovered a homemade pipe bomb in the Jetta, which the Bomb Squad later disposed of.

Kent Police commended the teamwork displayed during the incident, emphasizing the importance of collaboration among neighboring agencies. This incident underscores the ongoing challenges law enforcement faces in ensuring public safety amid rising concerns about firearms and explosives. The quick response and proactive measures taken by officers likely prevented further escalation of the situation.
