VIDEO Auburn Police remind residents If it goes up or blows up, its illegal

Auburn, WALocal News

With Independence Day approaching, the Auburn Police Department has reminded residents that fireworks are permissible only on July 4 from 9 a. m. to 11 p. m. Any fireworks that "go up or blow up" remain illegal within city limits.

To communicate this message, the department shared a humorous social media post featuring Officers Claire and DeRoche, showcasing their playful side. Residents must avoid calling 911 for non-emergency issues, as they should instead utilize the non-emergency line at 253-288-2121. This initiative not only aims to ensure compliance with local laws but also fosters a sense of community and safety as the holiday approaches. The Auburn Police Department's light-hearted tone helps engage residents while addressing a serious concern related to public safety. Historically, fireworks have been a source of noise complaints and safety hazards, making this reminder particularly timely.

As the holiday draws near, the department encourages responsible behavior to prevent accidents and disturbances.
