WSDOT to repave eastbound SR 18 in Auburn starting Monday, July 7

Auburn, WALocal News

WSDOT will begin a major repaving project on eastbound SR 18 in Auburn on July 7, 2025, covering a three-mile section from C Street Southwest to near the Green River. This highway section, which carries around 65,000 vehicles daily, has not been repaved since 2003, exceeding its 15-year lifespan. The project involves resurfacing the bridges over Auburn Way and F Street and replacing worn expansion joints on the C Street Southwest overpass. Crews will work overnight on weekdays, leading to single-lane closures and potential full closures for up to four nights in specific areas. Additionally, weekend directional closures will occur for bridge joint replacements, with signed detours using city streets during all closures.

WSDOT aims to minimize disruptions by avoiding scheduling during significant community events like the Washington State Fair and concerts at the White River Amphitheater. The project's completion in fall 2025 is expected to enhance driving conditions and prolong the highway's lifespan. Regular updates will be available on WSDOT's project page and real-time travel map.
