Kimono exhibit blends fashion and history at Neely Mansion this Saturday, June 28

The Neely Mansion Association will host a Japanese Kimono Exhibit on June 28, 2025, from Noon to 4 p. m. at its historic mansion located at 12303 SE Auburn-Black Diamond Road. The exhibit will showcase dozens of kimonos from the 1870s to the 1960s, each representing the cultural heritage of Japan. Collector Devin Dondero will provide insights into the artistry and significance of the garments.

Additionally, visitors can enjoy guided tours of the mansion and its 1930s Japanese bathhouse, originally built by Japanese tenant families. Admission is free, with donations encouraged to aid in site preservation efforts. The Neely Mansion Association seeks to honor the diverse stories of families that contributed to the region's history. Events like this promote cultural awareness and appreciation.
