Truck driver strikes No. 3 Road overpass on HWY 1

Around 2:45 p. m. Tuesday, a tractor-trailer struck the No. 3 Road overpass on Highway 1 near Chilliwack, leading to an investigation by the BC Highway Patrol. Video evidence shows a truck, identified with a Prime Flatbeds Ltd.

Although visible damage occurred, officials stated the overpass's structural integrity remains intact. The BC Ministry of Transportation is evaluating the extent of the damage, while the BCHP collaborates with Commercial Vehicle Safety and Enforcement to determine penalties for the driver and company. This incident marks the 11th overpass strike in British Columbia this year.

The truck was transporting an undetermined load covered in orange tarps. Interestingly, the Abbotsford Police Department clarified that this truck is not the same one involved in a separate incident later that day.
