Vancouver, BCLocal News

Construction is underway for a complex care centre at BC Children’s Hospital in Vancouver, aimed at supporting children with multifaceted health issues. Provincial ministers Josie Osborne, Bowinn Ma, and Adrian Dix initiated the project, which will provide both in-person and virtual care options. The centre will include 16 suites for families requiring short stays, facilitating easier access to necessary services. Minister Ma highlighted its role in connecting patients with a central care team, while Osborne emphasized the centre's commitment to supporting not just the children but also their families. Ani Khoudian, a caregiver and advisory committee member, expressed that such a resource would have been invaluable for her family years ago.

The facility will also feature an Indigenous healing garden, green space, and a licensed childcare centre. Construction is slated for completion by December 2027, with an anticipated opening in early 2028. This initiative marks a significant step in improving healthcare access for families in British Columbia and Yukon.
