Vancouver, BCLocal News

The City of Vancouver launched the Last Call Audit program this week to improve safety in hospitality venues, coinciding with Prevention of Violence Against Women Week. Funded by the city and managed by Good Night Out Vancouver, the initiative evaluates essential safety measures like harassment policies and complaint procedures. Mayor Ken Sim stated that public safety is a top priority for his office, underscoring the initiative's role in fostering inclusivity in nightlife. Venues that surpass safety expectations will receive recognition, promoting a culture of accountability. According to preliminary data, 82% of respondents would be more likely to support venues with visible safety measures.

The Last Call Project, initiated in 2023, aims to prevent sexual violence in Vancouver’s hospitality sector. Bars, restaurants, and nightclubs can learn more by visiting LastCallProject. ca. This program aligns with the City’s broader efforts to advance women's equity and safety.
