Lions Bay Search and Rescue save stranded hikers

Vancouver, BCLocal News

The Lions Bay Search and Rescue (LBSAR) team successfully rescued a group of hikers stranded on Brunswick Mountain after they lost their way in severe conditions. The hikers encountered steep snow near the summit and one member strayed from the marked trail, following a secluded creek. This individual became separated from the group and went missing after his phone battery died. Fortunately, he eventually reached a logging road, where he was found by a containment team. LBSAR volunteers received the emergency call shortly before sunset and quickly mobilized to assist the stranded hikers.

Nearby campers played a crucial role by keeping the group warm around a fire during the rescue operation. The incident highlights the importance of proper mountaineering gear when hiking in challenging conditions. Search and rescue teams continue to emphasize safety and preparedness to prevent similar situations.
