Wreck Beach drowning victim identified after body found at Stanley Park

Vancouver, BCLocal News

A GoFundMe has been established for the family of Rahul Ranwa, a 26-year-old who drowned near Vancouver's Wreck Beach last week. Search and rescue teams, including helicopters and drones, were deployed after he was reported in distress in the water. The Vancouver Police Department confirmed his body was found at Third Beach, several kilometers from the initial search area. Ranwa, an international student pursuing an MBA at Vancouver Community College, was an active member of the Student Council and worked part-time to support his family. His cousin, Yuvraj Singh, highlighted the urgent need for funds to cover repatriation costs and alleviate the educational debts incurred by his parents for his studies.

The fundraiser aims to ease the financial burden on his family during this difficult time. As of Monday afternoon, the campaign has raised over $20,000, reflecting strong community support. Tragically, Ranwa's dreams were built on his family's sacrifices, making this support crucial in their time of grief.
