Vancouver police man arrested after violent attempted robbery with bat

A 30-year-old man has been charged with six offenses, including robbery and assault, following a violent attempted robbery at a retailer in South Vancouver. The incident unfolded at approximately 3 p. m. when the suspect entered the store and attempted to steal several items, including a metal baseball bat. When a staff member tried to intervene, the suspect allegedly assaulted him with the bat, resulting in serious injuries that required hospitalization.

Additional staff members were also reportedly attacked as they chased the suspect out of the store. The Vancouver Police Department has emphasized the severity of the crime, leading them to request that the suspect remain in custody due to his prior offenses. Sgt. Steve Addison noted that beyond physical injuries, the victims will also face emotional trauma from the incident.
