Park Board launches new creative hubs for local artists, food and environmental groups
The Vancouver Park Board is excited to announce the addition of 11 new cultural residencies to its Fieldhouse Activation Program, which has been a cornerstone of community engagement since 2011. This expansion increases the total to 17 residencies aimed at fostering arts, culture, and environmental initiatives throughout the city. Notable new residencies include the El Mashup Collective, featuring a blend of Latine artists working in various media, and Sankofa Sanctuary, which focuses on the preservation of African cultural practices. Patchbay offers a supportive environment for learning music technology, while Earthseed Sanctuary emphasizes climate resilience through culturally-rooted arts programming. The program invites community members to participate in workshops ranging from natural dyeing to eco-processing.
By providing these creative hubs, the Park Board not only supports local artists but also strengthens community ties and promotes environmental stewardship. This initiative showcases Vancouver's commitment to cultural diversity and innovation. The residencies reflect a broader movement towards integrating art, culture, and environmental awareness in urban spaces.
