New Expo Deck path to open late May

Vancouver, BCLocal News

The City of Vancouver is set to open a new gravel path by late May, designed to enhance pedestrian and cyclist access around the closed Expo Deck south of Science World. The closure was enacted in February due to safety concerns identified during inspections of the aging structure, which is now deemed unsafe for public use. In response, the City has established temporary detours while planning for a more permanent solution. The new path will consist of two wide, separated routes, mirroring the Seawall path at Vanier Park. Construction is currently in progress, with pre-construction activities already underway, and access to Science World will be preserved throughout.

Structural engineers are working closely with the City to ensure the new path is safe and efficient for users. The City thanks the public for their patience and cooperation during this essential construction phase. This project highlights Vancouver's commitment to improving infrastructure for its residents and visitors.
