City of Vancouver approves over 11M in grants to support community organizations creating positive change

The City of Vancouver has taken a significant step toward community enhancement by approving over $11 million in grants on March 11, 2025. This funding will support a range of community service and social development initiatives, with over $7 million directed to projects commencing in 2025 and $4 million for ongoing programs. The grants are designed to empower non-profit organizations to deliver vital services, including childcare, youth programs, and initiatives focused on seniors, sustainability, and community safety. Among the notable recipients is the 411 Seniors Centre Society, which received $210,000 to promote active aging and social connections among seniors. Additionally, organizations providing traditional healing services to the Indigenous community are set to benefit from a $245,000 grant.

Michael Volker, the Executive Director of 411 Seniors Centre Society, expressed gratitude, emphasizing the positive impact of such support on overall community well-being. The funding aligns with the city's strategic priorities outlined in the Vibrant Vancouver and Healthy City Strategy.
