The New Westminster Police Department alerts drivers to exercise caution after three pedestrian collisions occurred within three days, from November 22 to 24. The first collision on 6th Street involved a pedestrian who called 911 after being struck, with the driver remaining on site. An hour later, another pedestrian was hit on 8th Street, and while police provided immediate aid, the driver initially fled but was later located. The third incident happened in the Sapperton area, where the driver remained at the scene, and their vehicle was seized for investigation. Sgt.

Andrew Leaver noted that winter conditions, including reduced visibility and rain, elevate the risks for pedestrians. He emphasized that road safety requires shared responsibility among all road users. The NWPD is actively investigating the cases, and some drivers involved have received violation tickets. These incidents highlight the ongoing need for heightened awareness and caution during winter months.
