Driver strikes and kills 63-year-old woman in Chilliwack

A tragic incident in Chilliwack's Sardis area resulted in the death of a 63-year-old woman after a driver struck her while she was crossing Vedder Road. The collision occurred Tuesday afternoon, with first responders arriving shortly before 4:30 p. m. The Chilliwack RCMP reported that the victim stepped back into the southbound lanes from the center median when the pickup truck collided with her. Despite the immediate arrival of emergency services, she was pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver and witnesses remained on-site, and police have indicated that there is no evidence of speed, alcohol, or driver distraction contributing to the collision. The Integrated Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Service (ICARS) and the BC Coroners Service are conducting further investigations.
