Vancouver City Council approves 2026 Budget with 0 property tax increase
Vancouver City Council approved a balanced 2026 Operating Budget of $2. 39 billion, maintaining a 0% property tax increase. The budget focuses on frontline services, including public safety, road maintenance, and community grants, while generating $120 million in savings through operational efficiencies. Utility fees, however, will rise by an average of 4. 2%, affecting single-family homes and businesses with increases of $107 and $104, respectively.
This rise is necessary to address aging infrastructure and increased Metro Vancouver water and sewer levies. The 2026 Capital Budget supports ongoing projects, advancing $698 million in new investments as part of a broader $3. 96 billion Capital Plan. Noteworthy capital initiatives include the renewal of the PNE Amphitheatre and seismic upgrades to the Cambie Bridge. The Council presented the proposed budget on November 12, 2025, and it received final approval on November 25, 2025.
Updated budget documents will be accessible on the city's website in early 2026.
