NSR stops search for missing 84-year-old man at Grouse Mountain

Vancouver, BCLocal News

North Shore Rescue (NSR) has indefinitely suspended its search for 84-year-old Won Kil Kim, who went missing after riding a gondola to Grouse Mountain on November 16. Despite a week of searching, no clues indicating his whereabouts have been discovered, according to NSR spokesperson Al McMordie. The team will continue to conduct routine activities in the area while remaining alert for any signs of Kim. Hikers are urged to inform friends and family of their plans to ensure timely assistance if they do not return. Kim is described as 5 feet 5 inches tall and weighing 140 pounds, reportedly dressed in hiking gear including a grey rain jacket and purple gloves.

McMordie noted the lack of any signs such as hiking poles or gloves, which would have indicated his path. The search was temporarily halted over the weekend due to poor weather conditions. NSR stresses the importance of having a trip plan to ensure safety in the backcountry.
