North Shore Rescue pauses search for missing Surrey senior

Vancouver, BCLocal News

North Shore Rescue has temporarily paused the search for 84-year-old Won Kil Kim, who went missing on November 16 near Grouse Mountain. Crews began their search after Kim was last seen around midday on the Dam or Little Goat Alpine Trail, where he is familiar with the area. Search Manager Allan McMordie indicated that volunteers are waiting for rain to pass before resuming operations. Earlier in the week, poor weather conditions affected the use of drones and helicopters, complicating search efforts. Kim's cellphone appears to be off, limiting the effectiveness of a device used to locate phones.

Although crews tracked Kim's movements to the trail, no new clues have emerged since his last sighting. McMordie noted that intensive searching occurred earlier in the week but yielded no results. Authorities are asking anyone with relevant information to reach out to the Surrey Police Service.
