Canucks Quinn Hughes misses practice, day-to-day with injury

Vancouver, BCSports

Vancouver Canucks defenceman Quinn Hughes is day-to-day with an injury after missing practice on Thursday, as reported by Sportsnet's Dan Murphy. The 26-year-old has already missed four games this season due to a lower-body injury and briefly left Tuesday’s game against the Winnipeg Jets with an upper-body injury. In 14 games this season, Hughes has tallied one goal and 12 assists. The Canucks are struggling, currently sitting second-last in the Pacific Division with an 8-9-1 record for 17 points. The team will also be without forward Drew O’Connor, who missed practice due to illness, although he has played all 18 games this season, recording four goals and four assists.

Starting goalie Thatcher Demko is out for two to three weeks after leaving Tuesday’s game with an injury. Hughes' absence could further complicate the Canucks' efforts to improve their standing in the division. The team's performance will be critical as they prepare to face the Carolina Hurricanes on Friday.
