Heavy rain coming for parts of B.C.s south coast Environment Canada

Vancouver, BCLocal News

Environment Canada has issued rainfall warnings for British Columbia's southern coast, anticipating 40 to 60 millimeters of rain from Wednesday to Thursday night. The most affected areas include Howe Sound and Metro Vancouver's North Shore, particularly Coquitlam and Maple Ridge. Meteorologist Carl Lam explained that regions further south, like Tsawwassen and Langley, will experience less rainfall but still face wet conditions. The rain is attributed to a slow-moving frontal system impacting the region. Authorities caution that landslides may occur in areas with steep slopes or recent burn scars.

Additionally, water pooling on roads could create hazardous driving conditions. The forecast predicts continued rain through the weekend as another system approaches. This weather pattern highlights the need for residents to stay alert and prepared for potential hazards.
