1 dead after shooting in Burnabys Metrotown

A shooting in Burnaby’s Metrotown area resulted in the death of a man Wednesday evening. The Integrated Homicide Investigation Team (IHIT) reported the incident occurred near McKay Avenue and Kingsborough Street around 6:30 p. m. Police found the male victim on arrival, but he succumbed to his injuries despite life-saving efforts. Investigators later discovered a burning vehicle nearby, though its relevance to the shooting is still under investigation.

IHIT believes this was a targeted attack and reassures the public that there is no ongoing risk. The police have blocked off the parking lot on Kingsborough Street as part of their investigation. This incident adds to growing concerns about gun violence in urban areas. Local authorities are urging community members to report any suspicious activity to aid in the investigation.
