1 dead after shooting in Burnabys Metrotown

A shooting in Burnaby’s Metrotown area resulted in the death of a man Wednesday evening. The Integrated Homicide Investigation Team (IHIT) reported the incident occurred near McKay Avenue and Kingsborough Street around 6:30 p. m. Police found the male victim on arrival, but he succumbed to his injuries despite life-saving efforts. Investigators later discovered a burning vehicle nearby, though its relevance to the shooting is still under investigation.

IHIT believes this was a targeted attack and reassures the public that there is no ongoing risk. The police have blocked off the parking lot on Kingsborough Street as part of their investigation.
