Narcotics worth 69 million seized at YVR

Vancouver, BCLocal News

Border agents at Vancouver International Airport seized narcotics worth over $69 million on September 3, marking a significant law enforcement achievement. The Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA) discovered 300 kilograms of cocaine and 241 kilograms of methamphetamine concealed within a shipment of car parts bound for Australia. The Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) has taken over the investigation, which is still ongoing. Acting Regional Commander Stephen Lee remarked on the seamless collaboration between CBSA and RCMP officers in addressing border security issues. This operation represents one of the largest narcotics seizures for export at the airport, highlighting the ongoing challenge of drug trafficking.

The CBSA noted that the seizure effectively removes millions of dollars from criminal organizations. Such operations are crucial for community safety and maintaining border integrity. Continued cooperation between law enforcement agencies remains essential in combating organized crime.
