Surrey police make arrest in non-extortion related overnight shooting

Surrey Police Service arrested a 46-year-old man on suspicion of being the main perpetrator in an overnight shooting at a residence on 72 Avenue before 8:45 p. m. on Sunday. Responding officers took the suspect into custody at the scene, where several gunshots had damaged the home's facade. He has been charged with one count of attempted murder using a firearm and one count of discharging a firearm at a residence, remaining in custody for a court appearance.

Fortunately, there were no reported injuries from the incident. Police confirmed that the shooting does not relate to extortion, addressing community concerns over safety.
