Vancouver garbage truck driver crashes towards houses

A city waste collection truck crashed into a South Vancouver home on Kerr Street near East 54th Avenue at 7:30 a. m. Thursday. Images captured at the scene show the truck laying across at least two properties, with one fence completely destroyed. Emergency crews responded swiftly, temporarily blocking the northbound lane of Kerr Street while they managed the situation.

The Vancouver Police Department is currently investigating the circumstances of the crash, and CityNews has sought additional information from them. Fortunately, no injuries have been reported as a result of the incident. The prompt actions of emergency services ensured that traffic resumed shortly after the lane was cleared. Such incidents raise concerns about safety standards for city vehicles. The city plans to review policies regarding waste collection truck operations to prevent future accidents.
