Vehicle recovered from Squamish River fourth person remains missing

Vancouver, BCLocal News

The BC RCMP announced the recovery of a vehicle from the Squamish River on Saturday, months after a single-vehicle crash on June 14. First responders located three individuals who escaped before the vehicle sank; however, one person is still missing. The recovery operation involved collaboration with Squamish Search and Rescue and the RCMP Underwater Recovery Team. The Squamish River's hazardous conditions, caused by spring runoff, complicated search efforts and led to multiple pauses in the days following the crash. Authorities are now continuing their investigation with assistance from Sea to Sky GIS, aiming to find the missing occupant.

The community is actively engaged in supporting recovery efforts, reflecting the incident's local significance. The incident highlights the dangers of fast-flowing rivers, especially during spring. Police emphasize the importance of safety and preparedness in such conditions.
