B.C. gang leader pleads guilty to conspiracy to murder Bacon brothers
Conor D’Monte, a British Columbia gang leader, pleaded guilty to conspiracy to murder three rival gang members, specifically the Bacon brothers. He entered the plea on Tuesday, with a sentencing hearing scheduled for November 12. D’Monte, previously one of Canada’s most wanted fugitives, evaded capture for 11 years in Puerto Rico before his arrest in 2022. He is also charged with first-degree murder in connection to the 2009 killing of Kevin Leclair, a Red Scorpion member. The BC Prosecution Service confirmed that this murder charge remains active.
D’Monte was known for his community engagement in Puerto Rico, organizing charity drives while maintaining a dual identity. The violent gang conflict in B. C. 's Lower Mainland, marked by public shootings, underscores the serious implications of gang activity in the region. This plea deal reflects ongoing efforts by law enforcement to address gang-related violence in British Columbia.
