Vancouver, BCLocal News

El Compa, a Mexican restaurant in Vancouver, closed permanently on October 21, just eight months after its launch. It shared kitchen space with Aleph Eatery, which also ceased operations on the same day, concluding its eight-year run. El Compa's operators stated on Instagram, “After eight vibrant months, El Compa's journey has come to an end,” reflecting on the joy of their experience. Both restaurants had been listed for sale, and the business licence database shows a pending application for a new establishment called Nabi House at the same address. Nabi House is set to focus on Korean cuisine, promising to deliver "simple, natural, and objectively delicious" dishes.

This transition highlights the evolving culinary landscape in Vancouver's dining scene. Aleph's operator, Haitham El Khatib, expressed heartfelt appreciation for the support from customers over the years. The closure of both restaurants signals a significant change in the local food culture.
