Vancouver voters frustrated ahead of next civic election poll
Vancouver residents show considerable frustration as they approach the municipal elections scheduled for October 17, 2026, with a poll indicating that 65% feel the city is on the wrong track. Affordability leads the list of concerns, alongside issues like homelessness and public transit. Only 35% of respondents think the city is progressing positively, while a substantial 69% believe Mayor Ken Sim should not be re-elected. The poll reveals that 62% of Metro Vancouver residents also feel the city is in poor condition, reflecting a broader regional dissatisfaction. Additionally, 58% rate Sim's performance as poor, and 55% express similar sentiments toward the city council.
A mere 27% prefer candidates from a united party, indicating a preference for individual platforms. The data, collected from 657 adults between September 30 and October 6, has a margin of error of +/- 5. 2%. These findings suggest a significant push for change in Vancouver's political landscape.
