Comet chasing How to view the 'best comet of the year' from Metro Vancouver

Vancouver, BCLocal News

Metro Vancouverites can catch a glimpse of comet Lemmon (C/2025 A6) tonight around 7 p. m. , despite the challenges posed by light pollution. Andrew Ferreira from the Royal Astronomical Society of Canada notes that the comet will be located between the constellations Boötes and Ursa Major. With a magnitude of 5, it won't be exceptionally bright, so binoculars or a small telescope are recommended for better visibility.

The comet will reach its closest approach to Earth on October 21, marking its peak brightness in the sky. Queen Elizabeth Park, at 125 meters above sea level, offers an excellent vantage point for viewing the comet. While Spanish Banks is a popular spot, nearby structures may obstruct the view. Light pollution in urban areas complicates visibility, prompting stargazers to consider darker locations in the Lower Mainland for optimal observation. Online tools from timeanddate.
