Bollywood stars Surrey caf shot at for third time

Vancouver, BCLocal News

A Surrey café owned by Indian entertainment star Kapil Sharma was targeted by gunfire for the third time early Thursday morning, around 3:45 a. m. Surrey Police Service is investigating the incident, which is linked to a troubling rise in extortion-related crimes in the area. The café, located on 120 Street and 85 Avenue, was previously shot at on July 10 and August 7, with employees present during all incidents but no injuries reported. Police reported 65 extortion-related incidents this year, including 35 that involved shootings.

Ian MacDonald from the SPS mentioned that discussions regarding the potential closure of the café are ongoing and influenced by the latest attack. The café had just reopened on October 2, and police have increased patrols since July. Authorities are gathering evidence and speaking with witnesses at the scene. The SPS has engaged with over 1,000 local businesses to address crime and enhance community safety.
