Hancock County parks to receive sunscreen stations

Toronto, OHLocal News

The Hancock County Family Support Center and the Hancock County Partners in Prevention are installing five sunscreen stations in local parks to promote sun safety. As of now, three dispensers have been set up in Chester City Park, Clarke Field playground in Newell, and New Cumberland City Park. The Weirton Board of Parks and Recreation approved the addition of two more stations in Marland Heights Park and Starvaggi Memorial Park. HCFSC director Hannah Hebrock plans to regularly check the dispensers during the summer to ensure they are stocked with SPF 30 sunscreen. The initiative draws inspiration from a similar program successfully implemented by a non-profit in Lewis County, W.

Va. This program aims to encourage sun safety among park visitors, particularly children. Once winter approaches, the dispensers will be winterized and stored until they are reinstalled in the spring. For further information about HCFSC and its services, residents can contact the center at (304) 748-7850.
