PBS entertainer visits libraries

Toronto, OHLocal News

Children’s entertainer J. D. Williamson visited the Public Library of Steubenville and Jefferson County to engage families through drawing and storytelling. His appearance was part of the library's Color Our World Summer Reading Program, which aims to promote reading among children and runs until July 26. Attendees included 8-year-old Jimmy Selman from Weirton and 12-year-old Shasta Hall from Mount Pleasant.

This week, all library branches offer a Fourth of July grab-and-go craft while supplies last. The craft bags contain materials for a patriotic picture frame, made possible by sponsorship from Capital Health Nursing and Rehabilitation centers. The program not only fosters creativity but also encourages a love for reading among the youth. Engaging local children through such activities can have a lasting impact on literacy rates in the community. The library's initiatives provide vital resources and activities to support families during the summer months.
