JVS health students advance again

Jefferson County Vocational School's health technologies students have qualified for the national competition after their impressive showing at the HOSA Ohio Leadership Conference. Their adviser, Tammy Sismondo, announced that they will participate in the Health Occupation Students of America International Leadership Conference in Nashville from June 18-22, joining around 13,000 members for contests and leadership training sessions. Kaylee Sandy won first place in the patient care technician category, while teammates Brooke Scharfenberg and Journey West secured first in CPR/First Aid. Sismondo noted that their chapter earned Gold Emblem School recognition for outstanding activities and leadership development. The students have a history of attending nationals every year, providing them with opportunities for pin trading and sightseeing in Nashville.

Sismondo expressed excitement about the students' hard work and potential for success at the upcoming conference. The event not only emphasizes competition but also focuses on leadership training and career exploration. This experience highlights the significance of vocational education in developing future health professionals.
