The City of Weirton is launching a summer concert series to enhance community engagement and revive Friday night events. The City Council approved a $25,000 budget for this initiative during a meeting on Monday. The first concert, featuring The Fantasy’s, is set for Friday at the Weirton Event Center, with gates opening at 6 p. m. A Mediterranean food truck will join the event, adding to the community atmosphere.

Parks Director Coty Shingle highlighted the concerts' potential to attract visitors from Hancock and Brooke counties as well as neighboring Ohio and Pennsylvania. The Top of West Virginia Convention and Visitors Bureau previously hosted similar concerts for 15 years before shifting to monthly events. Officials are currently working on scheduling additional bands for July and August concerts. This initiative represents a collaborative effort to promote Weirton's downtown and foster community spirit.
