Steubenville's Big Red baseball team clinched a 6-0 victory over Zanesville in the opening round of the OHSAA Division III District tournament, marking a strong finish to their home season. Pitcher Nolan Blackburn achieved a complete game shutout, demonstrating control and striking out four batters. The team made a remarkable defensive play by executing a triple play, a first for Coach Fred Heatherington in his long coaching career. Myles Cooper contributed significantly with two RBIs, while Nicky Lovato's two-run single in the sixth inning capped the scoring. This win allows Steubenville to advance to the second round, where they will face top-seeded Tri-Valley.

The upcoming match is scheduled for Wednesday at 5 p. m. Heatherington expressed confidence in his team's abilities as they prepare for the next challenge. The Big Red's performance highlights their potential as they aim for further success in the tournament.
