Sycamore drama students to perform Willy Wonka

The Sycamore Youth Center will bring the beloved musical "Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory" to life with a cast of 50 young actors aged 5 to 12. Directed by Virginia Carpenter, the show promises a vibrant experience filled with whimsical characters and toe-tapping songs. Bobbyjon Bauman, executive director of the center, expressed pride in the students' dedication and progress after months of rehearsals. Performances are scheduled for 7 p. m.

on Thursday and Friday at the center located at 301 N. Fourth St. in Steubenville. The event is free and open to the public, aiming to engage families in the community. Bauman hopes the community will turn out to support the young performers.

The production highlights themes of kindness, humility, and imagination, resonating with audiences of all ages. The Sycamore Youth Center has a history of fostering youth talent through its drama program, which contributes to the local cultural landscape.
