Wayne Ryan is announced as next WVSSAC director

Wayne Ryan will take over as executive director of the WVSSAC on July 1, succeeding David Price, who is retiring. Currently, Ryan serves as Associate Executive Director and has previously held the role of Assistant Director. He has managed several sports and contributed to improvements in tournament processes and school support systems. Ryan expressed his gratitude for the board's confidence, stating his dedication to serving student-athletes and member schools. Board President Trent Sherman highlighted Ryan's extensive experience in education-based athletics, indicating the board's confidence in his leadership.

Ryan has received multiple accolades, including the West Virginia State Coach of the Year and the West Virginia Athletic Director of the Year. His track record includes leading the Summers County girls' basketball team to six state championships. Ryan holds a master's degree in communications and is a Certified Athletic Administrator.
