Steubenville City Council appointed Ame Taggart and Rev. Jason Elliott to the city manager credentialing committee on Tuesday, completing the panel. The committee's primary role is to verify that applicants meet the qualifications for the city manager position as outlined in the city charter. Councilman Joel Walker, who organized the committee, emphasized the need for thorough checks of resumes and references to ensure no detail is overlooked. The council will conduct interviews once the committee submits the vetted applications.

Mayor Jerry Barilla and current City Manager Jim Mavromatis will provide advisory support during the process. Mavromatis also warned that vehicles left in a designated parking lot would be towed to allow for necessary maintenance. The area has been undergoing repairs since damage occurred after the demolition of the old Moose building. Scheduled meetings will address finance and economic development, indicating ongoing local governance efforts.
