Ralph Petrella leads the Republican primary for Steubenville's mayor by a mere 10 votes, with provisional and absentee ballots pending. The Board of Elections reported that 10 provisional ballots were cast, with 14 absentee ballots still awaiting delivery. Board member Frankie DiCarlantonio stated that provisional ballots will be assessed for validity, especially for those lacking valid photo IDs. Petrella, who garnered 789 votes compared to Kimberly Hahn's 779, expressed his excitement but acknowledged the ongoing uncertainty. Hahn, also a candidate, emphasized the importance of waiting for final results.

In uncontested races, Tracy McManamon and Jennifer Terpenning secured nominations for council positions without opposition. Additionally, Toronto voters approved Sunday sales for Tucker’s Tavern by a narrow margin. The official certification of election results is scheduled for May 22.
