Wheeling University graduates told to make their dreams happen

Wheeling University celebrated its 67th Commencement, where Rev. David Griffin encouraged the Class of 2025 to pursue their dreams in the face of criticism. Griffin shared personal lessons, urging graduates to seek solutions rather than excuses and to embrace mentorship. President Dianna M. Vargo presented degrees, motivating students to carry confidence and determination into their professional lives.

Valedictorian Jade Miller expressed gratitude for the supportive community at Wheeling and highlighted the importance of character over academic performance. She emphasized that her peers' kindness and compassion would be the lasting memories of their time together. David Hendrickson, Chair of the Board of Trustees, called on graduates to help others daily, reinforcing the value of small acts of kindness. The university also honored Jill Emery with the Outstanding Teaching Award for her dedication to nursing education.
