Ty France's solo shot in the fifth inning tied the game for Minnesota, which had its four-game winning streak halted. The game began after a lengthy 3-hour, 10-minute weather delay due to thunderstorms.

France has recorded an RBI in four consecutive games. The Guardians previously won their home opener against the Chicago White Sox on April 8 with a bases-loaded walk. RHP Pablo López is set to pitch for Minnesota against Cleveland's RHP Luis Ortiz in their next matchup.
