The Weir softball team showcased their prowess by sweeping a doubleheader against their rivals, Brooke, with scores of 8-0 and 8-3. After a slow start in Game 1, Weir exploded for six runs in the fifth inning, winning via mercy rule, with Eliza Utt earning the win on the mound. Utt not only struck out eight batters but also contributed significantly to the offense with a double and three RBIs. Game 2 saw Weir take an early lead, scoring eight runs before Brooke managed to prevent a shutout with three runs in the final inning. The Bruins, now 0-17, struggled offensively, with only one hit in the first game and a total of four hits in the second.

Coach John Leary praised Utt's endurance, noting her ability to pitch all 12 innings of the doubleheader. Weir's upcoming trip to Tennessee presents a new challenge, while Brooke aims to turn their season around in their next game against Buckeye Local. The Red Riders' strong performance not only reflects their skill but also their determination as they head into a crucial stretch of the season.
