Expand Energy, formerly known as Southwestern Energy, has donated $20,000 to the Brooke County Emergency Management Agency (EMA), enhancing their capabilities in responding to emergencies. This contribution is crucial as the EMA oversees responses to incidents such as chemical spills, large fires, and floods in the region. The funds will be used to procure vehicles and equipment, including a 2025 Ford Explorer currently utilized by EMA Director Greg Moore and Deputy Director Mike Loboric. While the natural gas industry has provided an economic boost to local communities, it has also raised concerns regarding the potential for emergencies at gas wells and increased heavy truck traffic. Expand Energy’s ongoing financial support illustrates its commitment to corporate responsibility and community welfare.

This year, similar donations were made to other counties in West Virginia and Ohio, showcasing the company’s broader regional engagement. A $6,000 donation was also made to the United Way of the Upper Ohio Valley, supporting numerous local organizations. Local emergency responders deserve recognition for their continuous efforts to protect the community, and these contributions play a vital role in enhancing their preparedness.
