Brooke Commission receives paving bids

The Brooke County Commission opened bids for paving two significant parking lots, one at the county's judicial center and another for a storage building related to the Brooke County Pioneer Trail. Among the bids, Alex E. Paris Contracting submitted the lowest offer at $431,549, while other bids ranged significantly higher. This paving project aims to improve access and create more parking spaces, enhancing the functionality of the judicial center. The commission also received a bid for a pole barn to house equipment for maintaining the Pioneer Trail, with Lombardi Development proposing $280,900 for the structure.

Alongside these initiatives, the commission established the county's levy rate at 13. 63 cents per $100 of assessed property, reflecting continuity from the previous fiscal year. In memory of John Gallagher, a budget transfer of $150 was approved for the county's ambulance service, acknowledging his contributions to the community. Additionally, the commission recognized the efforts of local emergency staff by declaring the week as 911 Telecommunicators Week. This series of actions highlights the commission's ongoing commitment to improving local infrastructure and honoring community service.
