Brooke Commission readies advisory 911 board
The Brooke County Commission plans to meet with candidates for a new volunteer board overseeing the county's emergency 911 center on December 2. County Commissioner Tom Diserio expressed hopes to finalize appointments during the subsequent meeting on December 9. Among the candidates are local officials, including police officers and fire chiefs, who have shown interest in serving on the board. In addition, the commission will re-advertise for the construction of a storage building along the Brooke County Pioneer Trail, having received only one bid that exceeded budget expectations. The new building will store maintenance equipment previously housed at a local business.
During the meeting, commissioners also honored the memory of John Bado Sr. , a respected local figure, highlighting his friendly nature and contributions to the community. State Delegate Jimmy Willis emphasized the need for further road work in the area, while Joe Eddy, former CEO of Eagle Manufacturing, announced successful environmental remediation of the company's property. Diserio noted the collaborative efforts of emergency services in responding to a significant fire at Aspen Manor, which resulted in no injuries despite extensive damage.
