Steubenville schools to honor veterans
Steubenville City Schools will honor veterans with various activities next week, inviting over 100 veterans to join students in appreciation of their service. Events begin with a breakfast at Harding Middle School, featuring performances by the jazz choir and a military medley, organized by the Leo Club. Fifth-grade teacher Danielle Kalinowski highlighted the program's growth from 50 participants nine years ago to 115 this year. Pugliese West Elementary will host breakfast and performances led by the Acts of Kindness Club, emphasizing the significance of honoring veterans through music. McKinley STEM Academy will conduct its annual musical tribute, including a flag parade and handmade cards for veterans.
Teachers noted that students have prepared for weeks to learn patriotic songs, enhancing their understanding of military service. The events aim to foster gratitude and respect for veterans among students and the community. This initiative reflects a broader commitment to recognizing the sacrifices made by those who served in the armed forces.
